Privacy Policy for Open Grammarly

Last Updated: January 07, 2026

Open Grammarly ("we", "us", or "our") is committed to protecting your privacy. This Privacy Policy explains how our Chrome extension handles information.

1. Information Collection

API Keys: We do not collect or store your OpenRouter API key on our servers. The API key you provide is stored locally within your browser's secure storage (Chrome Storage API) and is only used to authenticate requests to OpenRouter.

User Text: When you use the "Correct Grammar" or "Rewrite" features, the text you have highlighted is sent to OpenRouter (https://openrouter.ai) for processing. We do not store this text on our own servers.

2. Data Usage

The information processed by the extension is used solely to provide the AI writing assistance features. We do not sell, trade, or rent your personal data or your processed text to third parties.

3. Third-Party Services

This extension uses OpenRouter as a third-party AI provider. Your use of the extension is also subject to OpenRouter's Terms of Service and Privacy Policy. Please review their policies to understand how they handle data sent to their models.

4. Security

We use the standard Chrome Storage API to save your settings locally. We recommend keeping your API key private and not sharing it with others.

5. Changes to This Policy

We may update our Privacy Policy from time to time. We will notify you of any changes by posting the new Privacy Policy on this page.

6. Contact Us
